World Without Anger (WWA) and Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Nepal jointly organized the One day 4th International Conference on “Cross Cultural Transformation on Emotional Intelligence and Peace Education” with the presence of Litterateur Til Bikram Nembang (Bairagi Kainla), Chancellor, Nepal Academy at Rastriya Shabha Ghriha on December 17, 2013.

The conference was attended by renowned scholars, researchers, poets, experts, students,and educationists coming from Nepal, India, United States of America, United Arab Emirates, and Germany. All together 18 research papers related to Emotional Intelligence as well as Cross Cultural and Peace Education were presented at the conference. During the inaugural ceremony the chief guest of the conference, Chancellor Nembang, highly appreciated the theme of the conference. He stressed the need for awakening to the negative impacts of anger and the positive impacts of peace education among all the people of the world. He formallyrecognized the importance of Lumbini, the holy birth place of Lord Buddha,the home of peace in the world today. Healso called to our attention the bigger role of world societies to create peace and harmony.

The conference was jointly chaired by DM Basnet, Founder and President of WWA, and Er. Ram Rohan Panta, President of the Global Peace Foundation in Nepal. Both took time to highlight the significance of the annual conference on Emotional Intelligence and Peace Education. Mr. Basnet emphasized in his speech that this is a unique occasion for all of us to interact with each other in person and learn from our neighbors in other countries. It is a memorable stance for all of us to propagate the mission of peace and harmony through the path of Emotional Intelligence for building a more peaceful society in the long run.

The conference was addressed by Honorary Guest Prof. Dr. Tony Devine, Executive Director of LeadIn, GPF who spoke about Peace Education through strength of character and creativity. Prof. Dr. Triratna Manandhar, Vice-chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) stressed that the activities of WWA are similar to Buddhist Philosophy. Prof. Dr. Michael Waldo of New Mexico State University, USA, stated that he will continue his association with WWA to help spread its philosophy and vision. Also in attendance was Dr. Shishir Subba, Former Asst. Dean of Humanity Social Sciences, T.U., and Prof. Dr. Tulashi Ram Vaidya, First Vice-chancellor, LBU, as well as the Famous Psychologist of Nepal Prof. Dr. Murari Prasad Regmi, Chief Advisor, whogave their opinions on Emotional Intelligence and Peace Education in relation to the growing unrest and conflict in the world.

The conference was addressed by Dr. Laxman Shakya, Program Director of WWA and the conference was given a vote of thanks by Er. Ram Rohan Panta. There were four conference sessions which were each chaired by Prof. Dr. Aradhana Shukla of Kumanun University Campus, Almora, India, Prof. Dr. Bishnu Pathak, Director of Peace and Conflict Studies, Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Shishir Subba, Asst. Dean, Humanities and Social Sciences, T.U. and Prof. Dr. Shanta Niraula, Head, Dept. of Psychology, Tribhuvan University respectively.

The keynote speakers, Prof. Dr. Michael Waldo, University of New Mexico State University, USA emphasized the importance of Promoting Emotional and Interpersonal Differentiation through Awareness and Communication Education. Likewise, Prof. Dr. Subhash Chandra, India, spoke about the Cultural of Peace and its effectaround the globe. And the last speaker, Associate Prof. Dr. Mita Rana, Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health, Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital stressed the importance of the present scenario of Mental Health in Nepal.

The 4th Conference was concluded in the closing ceremony with the graceful presence of Mr. Dhruba Raj Regmi, Secretary, Nepal National Commission for UNESCO, Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal distributed certificates to all the presenters and active participants. He stated that WWA activities can be expected to provide a platform for Emotional Intelligence and Peace activists to share their experiences regarding the value of an ethics-based approachto create peace and harmony tohelp deal with current world challenges. In addition, he encouraged leaders from all sectors of society to base their decision-making processes on the basis of emotional literacy education.

The conference was organized by WWA and GPF in association with Central Department of Psychology, Tribhuvan University, Nepal National Commission for UNESCO, Junior Achievement (JA) Nepal, a member of JA Worldwide, Colorado, USA, XIPHOS-ISS, Thailand, LWA, USA. The Conference was supported by Prof. Dr. Dean Van Leuven ofthe World Emotional Literacy League (WELL), USA, GPF, Nepal and academic support was provided by the CPSSC.
